The lateral forced feeding device matched with the twinscrew extruder is used to fill and strengthen inorganic materials such as glass fiber, talc powder, calcium carbonate, etc. during twin-screw extrusion production.   The side feeding device is fed quantitatively by the quantitative feeder, and then forced into the twinscrew host through the special barrel and equal clearance twin-screw.

If the additive materials are added from the main feeding port in a conventional way, on the one hand, due to the different bulk densities of various materials, especially when adding powder, it is easy to layer, which will cause uneven components of the finished product; on the other hand, because most of the additive materials are hard, solid and will not be plasticized, adding them from the solid conveying section of the barrel will cause wear of the screw in the feeding section and the barrel.

However, if the lateral feeding method is adopted, the filling material is added from the material melting section, and the filling material is wrapped and mixed by the melted material as soon as it enters the main machine, which avoids the wear of the screw and barrel, reduces the energy waste caused by friction, effectively improves the output and production efficiency, and reduces the production cost.

According to the practical data obtained from the production experience of customers, after using the side feeding system of our company, the addition amount of calcium carbonate can reach 550kg/h and the addition amount of short fiber can reach 500 kg/h, and the filling content accuracy is improved.

Taking the introduction of glass fiber as an example, the accuracy of glass fiber content achieved by the introduction of long fiber is ± 5%, and the accuracy of glass fiber content measured by the introduction of short cut glass fiber by the side feeding system is ± 2%.

It can be proved that the side feeding system not only greatly increases the output of the main engine, but also reduces energy consumption, reduces wear, improves the life of the barrel screw, prolongs the replacement cycle of the screw components, and thus improves economic benefits.
